Christmas Marketing Tips: What’s Your Goal?
by Justin Premick on November 13th, 2008I’m not sure whether it was the plastic trees in the supermarket, the snow we got here last week or the first “what do you want this year?” question I fielded last night, but at some point it became obvious: Christmas is just around the corner. Is your business ready?
Even with a sagging global economy, sales during this coming season are expected to rise slightly over last year.
Of course, to get your share of the Christmas action, you’ll want to pull out all the stops in your marketing.
So where do you start?

Short Maintenance Period Saturday Night
by Justin Premick on November 6th, 2008Update: This maintenance was completed successfully from 11:50PM - 12:50AM (1 hour). All systems are normal.
Our Development team will be performing database maintenance for 2 hours this Saturday night.
As a result, you will be unable to login to your AWeber account from 11PM EST on Saturday, November 8th until 1AM EST on Sunday, November 9th.
No messages will be sent during this time. Any messages scheduled to be sent during this time will be sent once the maintenance is completed.
Your web forms will continue to collect subscribers, and we will continue to track opens and clicks.
On behalf of our entire team here, thanks for understanding as we keep AWeber running smoothly!
AWeber-Twitter Integration Now Works With Blog Newsletters
by Justin Premick on November 6th, 2008Just a quick note to say that the Twitter your email newsletters tool now works for Blog Broadcasts, too.
So you can now use AWeber to convert from RSS to email to Twitter – and get your message out to your audience even more easily than before!
To tweet your blog newsletter, edit it – you’ll see the “Syndicate” and Twitter sections now appear:

Also, we fixed an oversight where personalization tags were being included in some tweets – so now, if you personalize your email subject lines with say, {!firstname_fix}, that field won’t appear in your tweet.
Enjoy – and don’t forget to follow AWeber, Tom, Sean and Justin (me) on Twitter!

Email Segmentation Lifts Sales Over $31,000
by Justin Premick on November 4th, 2008Over the past week or so, we’ve talked about email segmentation a few times.
While the three posts did show you how to segment your subscribers, they didn’t talk much about why you should do so, or what to say to different groups. Some of you asked about this.
Well, just the other day, AWeber user Yaro Starak talked about those very things on his blog, sharing how they helped him raise sales over $31,000.
A couple thoughts on his experience and results:

Email Segmentation: Easily Target Customers
by Justin Premick on October 27th, 2008In two previous posts on email segmentation, we discussed how to target several groups of subscribers who have not yet purchased products/services from you yet.
These are all groups of people you can target to make your email marketing more effective, and I do strongly recommend thinking about how you can make your campaigns more relevant through segmentation.
But if you’re a believer in the idea that a customer is more likely to buy from you again than a prospect is to buy from you once, you’ll want to pay special attention to today’s tip:

Twitter Your Email Newsletters
by Justin Premick on October 23rd, 2008If you follow online marketing circles, you’ve likely seen (and participated in) a lot of discussions about social media and using it to grow your business.
While social media isn’t a replacement for email marketing, it can complement it by helping you connect a larger audience to your site and campaigns.
One social media tool that a lot of you seem to be using (and that we also use here at AWeber) is Twitter.
Today, we’re happy to announce that you can now use your Twitter and AWeber accounts together to expand the reach of your email newsletters.
